Our sincere condolences to Tania and the Van Den Nieuwenhuizen family. Steve was in my first class at St. Peter’s and the first student I had to “talk” to out in the hall. He always reminded me of that discussion as the years went by every time we saw each other often over a beer. His strength and determination sure was evident when he won the 800 meters at the county track meet in grade eight. It took every once of strength he had to win that race and I can still see the true exhaustion on his face as he lay on the ground after the race but he wasn’t going to settle for second. I’ve always had a ton of respect for the person Steve had become. Great memories of a great guy! Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this very difficult time ❤️
