Obituary of John Lawley
LAWLEY
At the age of 47 in Chinhae City, South Korea. John David Lawley B.Soc.Sc., Instructor at the Republic of Korea Naval Education and Training Command, English School.
Survived by his parents John David Sr. and Shirley Ann (Stephenson) Lawley of RR#1 West Lorne, ON, brothers Charles and Julie (Papandris) Lawley of West Lorne, ON and Doug and Kelly (Price) Lawley of Kitchener, ON. Also survived by his nieces Jessica, Jacqueline, Meghan, Emma and Jayme Lawley and his uncle John Savory of Coleshill, England. Predeceased by an infant brother, James Frederick Lawley, grandparents LeRoi and Ilda (Calder) Lawley and Charles and Hazel (Anguish) Stephenson and his aunt Helen Savory (Stephenson).
Born in Soest, Germany where his father was posted as part of Canada's commitment to NATO, John David received his secondary school honor graduation diploma from West Elgin Secondary School. He received his honor degree in the Bachelor of Social Sciences, major Criminology from the University of Ottawa. J.D. enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces Militia and was a member of the Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa. He received certificates of basic trades training in the military police and combat services. He also received certificate of training course of the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires.
J.D. earned his honor diploma in Computer Business Applications from Westervelt School of Business and then his certificate of Teacher of English Language for Foreign Language Students.
He was a member of the Anglican Church of Canada, West Elgin Masonic Lodge #386 (formerly McColl Lodge) and Clan Douglas, London and Strathroy Legion Pipe Bands.
Friends may call at the WEST LORNE CHAPEL OF DENNING FUNERAL DIRECTORS on Saturday, April 9th, 2011 from 1-2:30 pm. A Masonic memorial service will be conducted at 2:45 pm under the auspices of West Elgin Lodge #386 A.F.&A.M. Funeral service will follow at 3 pm. Rev. Canon Brenda Clark officiating. Interment of ashes will take place at Port Hope Union cemetery at a later date.
