To be separated from someone by death seems unfair. You have my condolences in your loss of Shirley. May your memories of times together be comforted by the promise from Jesus Christ that millions now dead will live again on this earth in peaceful, perfect conditions. (John 5:28, 29; Matthew 5:5.) Since Jesus made the promise, it is safe to assume that he is willing to fulfill it. Keeping your family in my thoughts and prayers, Susie Noble

Thursday March 24, 2011 was a very sad day for me I lost a very good friend who was like a mother to me. I have known Shirley for 8 years and we bonded. I have visit Shirley @ her home. Or she would come and visit @ my home. We would go out for lunch or go and visit her sister Donna @ the Dearest Home in London, Ontario. Shirley love to play Rummikub and she always won, I was a little too slow for her. Or if I won she would say well we need to play another game to make a tie. Shirley like when I did sewing for her, she loved the pillow cases I would make.Harry and I did some painting for Shirley and Simone. Shirley had her own way of doing things and she loved cleaning with vinegar And she loved her garden and her roses. There wasn't a person in the world who thought ill of her. The world is a bit dimmer because she has left Shirley was one of those unique people who lit up a room when she entered. She always made people feel at ease and cared for. She was a good listener and always was optimistic. She loved her family and friends deeply and was devoted to them. She was there for everyone and everyone was there for her. You just couldn't not be. She was that kind of special person wish you, too, had known her. Your life would be much richer because of her. Perhaps you have your own special friend who brings this to your life. If you do, cherish your friend, for the days are short.
"Ancient Egyptians believed that upon death they would be asked two questions and their answers would determine whether they could continue their journey in the afterlife. The first question was, "Did you bring joy?" The second one was "Did you find joy?" (Leo Buscaglia) If this is indeed the criterion, my friend is well on her way in her journey!
Charles Caleb Colton said, "True friendship is like sound health: the value of it is seldom known until it be lost." I feel sad to have lost my friend but feel secure in knowing that what we had will continue beyond false barriers such as death. I know she is still my friend. I know she will be with me in my heart for the rest of my own life. I know that my life is better for having known her.
And for her, I like to think of Walter Scott's quote:
"Death.the last sleep?
No, it is the final awakening."
Enjoy your journey, Shirley. Until we meet again..
Love you
Barbara Jean

No matter how old we are, losing a mother is one of the deepest sorrows a heart can know. But her goodness, her caring and her wisdom live on, like a legacy of love that will always be with you. May these words comfort you on the loss of your mother. I will always remember her sweet smile and beautiful nature. With deepest sympathy!
