Shari, Darlene and families; Sorry to be so slow responding to the news of Craig's death. I think it took us awhile to accept and acknowledge his passing. We have very fond memories of our fun, younger days with Craig-be it at a party where he was strumming/singing with his guitar, local dances/proms, or just a chat on the street. Miss his friendly outgoing manner and interest in our family. May you and your family have comfort during this time....Ron,Connie Sitlington and families

To the entire family, we are so sorry to hear of the loss of Craig. We didn't even know much about Craig being so ill till the last few weeks of his life here on earth. We had unexcepted family over from Europe, he as well is dying of cancer and his wish was to come see Canada. We brought them to the airport and our next stop was to go see Craig, but got the call from Dale's sister that he had already passed on. Again, our deepest sympathy, Dale and Mary

This poem was written by a 13 year old boy who died of a brain tumor that he had battled for four years. He died on December 14, 1997. He gave this to his mom before he died. His name was Ben.
My First Christmas in Heaven
I see the countless
Christmas trees
around the world below
With tiny lights, like Heaven's stars,
reflecting on the snow
The sight is so spectacular,
please wipe away the tear
For I am spending Christmas with
Jesus Christ this year.
I hear the many Christmas songs
that people hold so dear
But the sounds of music can't compare
with the Christmas choir up here.
I have no words to tell you,
the joy their voices bring,
For it is beyond description,
to hear the angels sing.
I know how much you miss me,
I see the pain inside your heart.
But I am not so far away,
We really aren't apart.
So be happy for me, dear ones,
You know I hold you dear.
And be glad I'm spending Christmas
with Jesus Christ this year.
I sent you each a special gift,
from my heavenly home above.
I sent you each a memory
of my undying love.
After all, love is a gift more precious
than pure gold.
was always most important
the stories Jesus told.
Please love and keep each other,
my Father said to do.
I can't count the blessing or love
has for each of you.
So have a Merry Christmas and
Wipe away that tear
Remember, I am spending Christmas with
Jesus Christ this year

I have been sitting here today remembering all of the good times and wonderful memories of Uncle Craig. I am a mix of emotion, at times crying a river of tears and then laughing the next as I think about him. I want to share these lyrics. He used to pull out the guitar and Darlene and I would sit close to him and sing "I'll Fly Away". Here goes:
"Some bright morning when this life is over
I'll fly away
To that home on God's celestial shore
I'll fly away.
I'll fly away oh glory
I'll fly away (in the mornin')
When I die hallelujah by and by
I'll fly away.
When the shadows of this life have come and gone
I'll fly away
Like a bird from these prison walls I'll fly
I'll fly away.
Oh how glad and happy when we meet
No more cold iron shackles on my feet
I'll fly away.
Just a few more weary days and I'll fly away
To a land where joys will never end.
I'll fly away.
(from the soundtrack for O'Brother Where Art Thou)
As I sit here humming this song I think about the sudden jam sessions on the porch at his old apartment in Watford, my camping trips with him and DD, the days when he would dress up as the Easter bunny and surprise us kids at the Clark Easter dinners held out at the farm, Nanny saying "Oh Craig" when he would say something goofy or doing something crazy to annoy her, his love for bluegrass music, ketchup,a good steak dinner, the Donald Duck voices, the great outdoors and a walk along the beach. I will miss being called "Carly", not sure why I have never heard him use my actual name. Just this past summer he and Uncle Ron became our weekly "landscaping crew". They kept our grass looking wonderful as their way to help us as Nick was unable to due to health reasons and I was busy being a wife, caregiver to Nick and a Mommy. One day our lawn tractor died out, so Uncle Craig and Cale sat out under the big tree in the backyard and had a wonderful conversation for an hour. Have no idea what they talked about but the last time I saw Uncle Craig he smiled and laughed and said that he enjoyed that conversation with my 3 year old so much. I am greatful that Cale will remember his "Great Uncle Craig".
I will always love you and miss you Uncle Craig. Life will go on but I will remember you always. Knowing that you are enjoying a heavenly reunion with Nanny, Gumpie and Uncle Gary gives me great comfort.
Enjoy that walk on God's celestial shore, I imagine it is very beautiful.
Love always, your niece Carla (Carly)
