Obituary of Wilma Smeekens

Suddenly, with her family by her side, Wilma Smeekens (nee Van Riel) of Forest in her 85th year passed away at the Mitton Site of Bluewater Health on Friday, December 18th, 2009. Beloved wife of Jack for 57 years. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her children Jane and Peter (2008) Rombouts of Thedford, Frank and Karen Smeekens of Grand Bend, Lia and Mark Schepers of Parkhill, Pete and Nell Smeekens of Grand Bend, Elly and Bart Leenders of St. Paul's and Jim and Anita Smeekens of Strathroy. Wilma is the loving grandmother of 23 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She is survived by her sister Anny Van Riel of the Netherlands and Kees Smeekens and Joe and Johanna Smeekens both of Forest. Wilma will be sadly missed by many loving members of the Van Riel and Smeekens family both in Canada and in the Netherlands. Visitation will be held at the FOREST CHAPEL of Denning Funeral Directors on Monday, December 21st, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Christopher's Catholic Church on Tuesday, December 22nd at 11am with Fr. Gerard Bedard celebrant. Interment to follow at Beechwood Cemetery.
