Obituary of Gerald Akey

AKEY Peacefully at home on Saturday, April 4th, 2009. Gerry of Forest and formerly of the Yarker area in his 74th year. Dear husband of Marilyn Akey. Loving father of Lori and Harvey Purtell of Harrowsmith, Christine Bliss and D'arcy Snider of Sydenham (predeceased by their mother Lorraine) and special step father of Lisa and Chris Kingdon of Forest and Julie and Brad Forbes of Forest. Grandpa Gerry to Ryan, Katie and Veronica and devoted papa to Meighan, Emmaleigh and Carsen; Connor, Blake and Brayden. Dear brother of Shirley Veley, Don and Gloria Akey and Duane and Chris Akey, son in law of Stuart and Dorothy Marsh and brother in law of Gary, Jim, Robert and Stephen Marsh and their families. Gerry is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Gerry had a great love for children and enjoyed his 17 years of working with them at St. John Fisher School. Always loved, never forgotten. Friends may call at the Forest Chapel of Denning Funeral Directors, 9 James St. S. on Tuesday, April 7th, 2009 from 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be conducted from the chapel on Wednesday at 2 pm with visitation one hour prior to service. Rev. Cathy Larmond officiating.
