Obituary of Annie Klein

Annie Klein (nee Enns) September 29, 1936 – November 12, 2018. Died at the age of 82. Annie was the youngest of three children of Helene and Johann Enns. She was born in Reichenfeld, Ukraine, USSR a Mennonite colony near the Black Sea. Annie’s early life was one of disruption and movement and would shape her personality. Stalin’s purges took her father when she was one, and WWII meant she found herself, part of a year-long trek to northern Germany after Germany’s invasion of the USSR. She did not see her early home again until 2003. With the end of WWII, Annie and her family were sponsored to come to Canada in 1948. Early on they lived in the St. Catharines area. A year later they settled in Leamington when she was just a teenager. There she would meet her husband, Adolf who predeceased her in 2016, and they would have four children. In 1965, Annie and Adolf purchased a farm near Watford, ON where they lived for over 30 years; sharing the highs and low of making a success of the farm and raising the children. While on the farm, she would train as a Health Care Aide and work at Strathmere Lodge for nearly 24 years. Until recently, she volunteered at the Anglican Church and Watford Quality Care. Survived by her four children, Heidi, Manfred, Marianne, Arthur, three grandchildren Mariel, Emma and Graeme; and her sister Mary Peter and her husband, Henry and their family. The children would like to thank the many friends and neighbours for all their help over the past years. A Memorial and reception are being planned. Details will be announced. Funeral arrangements entrusted to DENNING’S OF WATFORD, www.watfordfuneralhome.com.
