Sharon, Tess, John, Todd and Greg, and your families. I'm so, so sorry to hear of the passing of Doug. In the passing of time, and the rush that life has become these days, I hope he knew how much he was cherished.
He was the first "Man's Man" that I ever met. To my wide eyes, it seemed like there was nothing that he couldn't do. Was there any mechanical gremlin that ever beat him? I doubt it. Want a convertible? Out comes the blow torch to your old Dodge. Want to check out the new 402 highway while it was still all dirt? Put 'er into 4-wheel drive and go for a ride. On the way home from church no less. Need to tune up a kid for getting out of hand? He seemed to have the calm voice for that too.
He left a huge mark in my upbringing, and I don't think I ever told him that. Not the kind of thing you'd say to a man's man, I guess. But there it is.
My thoughts are definitely with you at the loss of this great man.

Sorry for the families loss I miss him I loved being allowed to visit yr house wen I was a child he will b missed this may not b fitting but on a lighter note in 1986 were the road ends at 402 I got stuck in the snow I walked all the way to see John late at night as I needed a tow he said some one visits him for a tow as it was my time we jumped in the ford late and cold and he pulled me out I appreciate that Doug thanks condolences to all family
