Darling Wendy,
My heart is wide open and I'm sending deepest hugs. Hard to lose your best friend - but such a privilege to have had one such love.
Blessings on you and Keri and Ashley.
With love and my own special memories of the days at Weston and Leamington - mostly laughter, great silliness and warm and wonderful friendship.

Friday, December 2, 2011
Hello Wendy and Family: My name is Alex Dobronyi. I don't know if you remember me (John's sister might). I worked for the London PUC for many years. I started in 1954 and retired in 1993. So I go back a long ways. As you know in those days the LPUC looked after the City's recreation facilities and Thames Valley GC. When I arrived on the scene, John Innes was the pro at Thames with your John's Dad coming on board shortly thereafter as the pro at the course. I recall John Junior, as he was known then, working in the proshop during his student days. He like his Dad always had a welcoming ready smile as he greeted incoming golfers. It was so nice to see his picture in the Free Press, and smiling to boot. Both he and his Dad tried to help me improve my golf game. Little did they know then that I was a such a futile case. Our deepest condolences go out to you and your family. John will be rememered as a true gentleman of golf. Alex and Emma Dobronyi

At age 11 I was lucky enough - or hung around long enough - for John and Wendy to give me a shot at "picking the range" or to get me out of their hair - not sure which :-) Before too long I was driving "the International" down the road from the maintenance barn to actually pick up the range balls - lesson here (give a person trust and responsibility and chances are they will step up, be proud, (and make mistakes :-))! Probably given that I'm not a farm boy and not the least bit mechanically inclined, I managed to drive the International directly over the very large drainage culvert that used to be right on the way to the Range - needless to say the Tire didn't stay on the rim after showing off my stunt skills. I ran back to shop - ready to be fired and yelled at - when John heard about it and saw the accident - not only did he not yell at me, he proceeded to have a good belly laugh - not one that made me feel stupid, one that made me know it was okay to make mistakes. John could always fix things, so he was never afraid of them to break! I'm sure my time with John taught me to stay calm when things go wrong and to actually enjoy mistakes and the lessons that come from it. Thanks John for all the lessons and the stories!

Dear Wendy and family We are so sorry to hear of John's passing. Greg's dad Norm Moffatt (passed away in 1998) was a cousin from St. Marys. He spoke of John and his love for golf, we had lost track of where you were from Leamington and were saddened to read the newspaper this morning. We send love and prayers and are sure the memories you have will help get you through this time of grieving. Greg and Heather Moffatt

I learned alot about the Golf Business from both John & Wendy. John always had a smile and a lending ear for all of the Members at Erie Shores. Whenever you asked John about his daughters Kerri & Ashley his face would lit up. He was a proud husband and a proud father and would do anything for his family.
