Obituary of W. Stephen Summers
SUMMERS, W. Stephen
Suddenly at Bluewater Health in Sarnia, surrounded by family, on Sunday January 6, 2013 at the age of 72 years. Steve Summers is the beloved husband of Beverley; sadly missed father of Kim Dean, Mark (Norma) Summers, Lisa (John) Key, Mark Valkonen, Heather (Dave) Kundapur, Lesley (Steve) Loughlin and Laura Summers; cherished "Grampy" to Peter (Miranda) and Matthew (Amy) Mayer; Melissa, Jennifer and Rachel Dean; Gregory, Lauren and Ryan Key; Madison Loughlin; and Carah and Alexander Kundapur. Steve will be remembered fondly by dear relatives and great friends.
Steve was born and raised in Toronto, and often recounted tales of yesteryear, including swimming in the Don River. After serving in the Air Force, he settled into a marketing career with Honeywell-Bull. Steve married Beverley in 1991 and retired to the golfing community of Forest, Ontario in 1998. An avid golfer, Steve spent much of his free time on the links, or slightly off of them "ball-hawking". When not enjoying a round with dear friends, Steve cherished time debating with his children and playing with his grandchildren.
In recent years Steve enjoyed giving back to many community organizations, including working with Habitat for Humanity and as a volunteer driver for the Canadian Cancer Society.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 11, 2013, at the FOREST CHAPEL OF DENNING FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 9 James Street South, Forest, from 11:00 am - 12:00 noon. A Funeral Service will follow in the chapel at 12:30 pm. Reception to follow. Spring interment at Lake Valley Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Canadian Cancer Society - Volunteer Driver Program, the Salvation Army, or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. Online condolences may be left at www.denningfuneralhome.com Posted free at canadaobits.ca
