Funeral Mass
Obituary of Martin Albert Minten
Martin was called home on December 6th - the Feast of St. Nicholas - while hand in hand with his dearest wife, Mary, and surrounded by his children: Jacinta (Rob), Martin (Lorraine), André (Michelle), Jason, Frank (Jessica), Maria (Eric), Veronica (Jason), Jacob (Paula), Anna (Travis) and Thérèsa.
Martin was predeceased by his older sister, Nettie, older brother, Arnold, and brothers in-law Harry Rops and Peter Kustermans. Martin will also be welcomed by his daughter, Alexia, and his grandchildren Roma and Isaac, as well as other grand babies we never got to hold.
Arriving in Canada at age 7, Martin worked along side his parents and brothers and sisters to build a new home in Canada. After he and Mary wed in 1971, they raised a family and built a life based on faith, love and an unshakable hope. Till the end, Martin would still say that the best was yet to come. Martin would say he lived an ordinary life and yet, to his family, he made an extraordinary impact - living, loving, praying, and working.
In his final days, Martin was able to celebrate an early Christmas party with his family and see his 10 children, their spouses, his 45 grandchildren and his 12 great grandchildren.
When he received the news that God was calling him home early, Dad decided that this would just have to be our best Christmas yet - and we will do our best to make certain it is. So from our Dad to you all, Merry Christmas.
To celebrate Martin’s life, Visitations will be held on Monday, December 9th, 2024 from 1 pm to 3 pm and 6pm to 8pm at DENNING’S OF WATFORD.
