Doris was a rare gem. She was always up for an adventure and fun. So many great memories. I REMEMBER HER SHINING THE CAR LIGHTS ON Jane and I when we would swim in the dark with the snapping turtles in the back pond. She always set up her MOUSETRAP GAME for the kids whenever we would visit. She often visited us out West where she embraced the mountains, floated down the Elbow river in a dingy, bird watched, held falcons and owls at the birds of prey centre. I remember dressing up in strange gowns (we thought they were fancy) to watch the academy awards. She loved nature and had one of the most popular bird feeders in Lambton county. She worked hard her whole life to be a great caretaker for the earth. She was an artist. I remember her making beautiful teddy bears out of discarded mink coats for each of her grand children. Also her Christmas Nuts & Bolts are legendary.
She loved her family, her neighbours and she was a beautiful friend to me my whole life. You are so loved Doris!! You made the world a brighter place.

I loved driving bus with her as she always made the day better. Even though we drove for different companies it was amazing the mischief that we could get into. I truly enjoyed our friendship. Ruth McCallum

I very clearly remember Doris as my bus driver and neighbour in the late 70's and early 80's. She was a very kind driver who spoke softly and made us feel safe. I also remember trick or treating at Don and Doris' - Don's hearty laugh, and Doris would give out homemade popcorn balls instead of candy. As a child, I remember thinking what a rip-off those popcorn balls were because Halloween was really our only chance to gather up a stash of chocolate. As an adult, I understand the time, love and care that went into making those treats for people she cared about. Thinking about all of you during these difficult days.
