Obituary of Jane Von Der Recke
Jane (Maxena) Von Der Recke (nee Hollingsworth) passed away peacefully, in her 71st year, on August 31st, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
Beloved wife of Eric Von Der Recke for 47 wonderful years. Loving mother to Erika (Matt) Reesor, and Kurt (Stephanie) Von Der Recke. Beloved Grammie to Keegan, Brett, Maggie, Eloise, Westin, Waylon. Cherished sister to Richard (Sandy) Hollingsworth. Beloved aunt to Nathan (Julie), Joel (Sarah). Great aunt to Kari, Addison, Owen and Camden. Remembered fondly by all of her extended family and friends.
Born May 15th 1953 in Sarnia ON, to the late Donald and Jean Hollingsworth; Jane lived a very exciting and full life. She was very active, having played many different sports throughout her life including baseball, golf, and yoga. Jane also spent several years as an active member of St. John’s Aughrim Church as well as the Aughrim Women’s Institute. In her spare time Jane liked to garden, go to the beach, spend time at the lake (Port Glasgow and Port Franks), listen to music, and most importantly spend time with her family and friends whom she cherished most.
She especially loved to travel. Her most recent adventures included time spent in Vietnam, Cambodia, and St. Martin, with her loving husband Eric. She enjoyed creating special moments with her children, grandchildren and photographing sunsets. She also enjoyed a long and fulfilling career in the Dental Community, retiring from the Strathroy Dental Centre.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Sarnia Bluewater and Strathroy Middlesex General Hospitals’ Stroke Rehabilitation and Healthcare teams, as well as the Intensive Care Unit at University Hospital.
