We got to know Bob through hockey and then even better as Bob and I drove bus to Sarnia a number of years together. We had many discussions about family and hockey was always a great subject. . Our most sincere condolences to Fran, Scott, Mark and families at this time of great sadness.
I have many good memories of Bob. As dad's friend, I remember the many hours spent at the rink watching the boys play, and celebrating their victories. Bob and dad solved a lot of problems each morning at Mac's for many years...I know that those were meaningful times for dad spent with a good friend.
Bob hired me to cut grass at local cemeteries for a few summers while in university. Bob was a cool customer...until he wasn't... Let's just say broken down machinery was not his favourite thing to deal with - only slightly more tolerable than some of the individuals we encountered during those days...so many laughs and good times had.
My brother remembers being the last person to be dropped of on Bob's bus, so when it was just the two of them - they'd light up smokes and finish the ride home. Classic, memory-making stuff!!
Rest in peace now, Bob. If my experiences with Bob taught me anything, it would be to not decorate his grave with anything metal or glass, and forget about the flowers. He'll just mow over them anyway.... ;)
May your own many good memories carry you through the days ahead. Be assured of our thoughts and prayers!
