It is with great sadness the family of John Grant Thomson announces his peaceful passing on March 31, 2021 at Bluewater Health, Sarnia, in his 92nd year. Beloved husband of the late Anna Mae Thomson. Loving father of Dianne (Randy) Brown. Proud grandfather of Stacey (Jimmy), Marc, Jeff, Michael, Ryan, Liam, and his step-granddaughter Chris. Great-grandpa of Aden, Maxwell, Nolan, Wyatt, Nora, Amber, Zachary and step-great-grandfather of Cole. 

 

Predeceased by his sons Donald Thomson, Glenn Thomson, his grandson Daniel Thomson, his brother Myles (Barb) Thomson. Survived by his sisters June (Keith) McKey and Sharon Carmichael, daughters-in-law Sue Thomson, Donna Thomson, and his brother-in-law Angus (Elizabeth) Simmons. Grant will be sadly missed and remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. 

 

Grant was an avid local sportsman. As a player and manager he developed many lifelong friendships. He was a dedicated CN Rail employee for 37 years. 

In his later years he enjoyed golfing and was passionate about a good game of bingo. Grant will be truly missed by all who knew him. 

 

The family wishes to thank all the staff at Brookside Retirement for all the compassion and care during Grant’s time there as well as all the staff at Bluewater Health as well as Dr. Maddison for all of their kindness and care. 

 

As per Grant’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family graveside service will take place at a later date at the Watford Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Online condolences and donations may be left at www.watfordfuneralhome.com.
