Janice and I moved into the house next door to Jack & Milly, in Watford, a little, more than 9 years ago. My first memory of Jack was that day, standing in front of our full garage and Jack asking me what I was planning to do. I told him I was going to rearrange things so I can get both cars into the garage before bed. He said that there was no way, with everything we had piled in the garage, that one car was going to fit, let alone both cars. By 9pm, I had both cars in and could get in & out of both. Jack had come back just after I put both cars in the garage and stood there with a stunned look on his face. "I can't believe it!" he said. "I think you should start a business rearranging people's garages. You could make money at it!"
Jack was a wonderful neighbour, as was Milly. He would often putter around in his nicely kept gardens and was always ready for a good chinwag. He knew what was going on in town and was always ready to fill you in.
When Jack & Milly moved to Strathroy, we lost wonderful neighbours and I missed my chats.
I also had the opportunity to meet some of their family when they were preparing to move to Strathroy. To all of them, and to Milly, Janice and I would like to offer our deepest, and most sincere, condolences. Rest in peace Jack! Cheers! Kevin W. Moore, Addison, ON.

So very sorry to see that Jack has passed away. My husband and I have recently moved into the house next door to their last residence in Watford. My condolences to Mildred and also to Russell and to Norma and her family. I also didn't know that Mary had passed away. I grew up across from them on what is now Churchill Line and I remember meeting many of the other Lane families in the area at Russell and Mary's home over the years that we lived there. Dear Mildred
I am soo sorry for the passing of Jack, he was a good man and a very compassionate person. I will always be thankful to him for all his help. He jumped in and helped us build a beautiful deck in Dallas and forever grateful for his kind gesture of fixing my grandmother’s 50 yr old rocking chair when you both visited in Marina del Rey. I always remember Jack’s simple but beautiful supper prayers. My Prayers are with you and the family

Our sympathy to the family. I have good memories when our family visited Jack and Millie at their farm and the woodstove going and a black Lab dog close to Jack, a hospitable kind couple living country life. Jack was always friendly to me and wanted to talk and was kind. I was too young to drive and Jack would pick me up at our mailbox early in the morning to go deer hunting and drop me off when the day was done. At that age and stage of my life it was a big deal. We had a fun time deer hunting as a group with his brother Cecil, Steve Hilinka, his friend Fred and some other neighbours. The next year my brother Roger joined. We had a lot of fun and good story times. Jack was good at telling a story and made you feel comfortable around him. I will miss him and appreciated the time I spent with him.

Dear Mildred,Dan,Maxine,Donna and Gabe---Diann and I were so saddened to hear about Jack passing. Our deepest condolences to you all. Saying sorry for your loss seems to be not enough at this time. Words may help, but how does one cover the pain close to what your feeling? The video brought back many memories of time past.Seeing pictures of your family growing up remind us how life seemed to go at a slower pace,but also shows how we age and time sometimes doesn"t do us any favours.Jack was like an older brother during my teenage years.He was always so layed back and easy going. I remember times we would check out surrounding farmers crops, or building the new barn and implement shed. Those were good times. Its good to remember and be reminded how it was,and life is short.
