Celebration of Life
Obituary of Alex Hastie
It is with deep sadness that the family of Alexander David Hastie announces his passing on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at the age of 68.
Alex was born on October 3, 1956, to Matthew and Dorothy Hastie.
He was the beloved husband of Gayle Hastie, and a devoted father to Mandy (Mark), Becky (TJay), and Jeff (Sara).
Alex was a proud and loving grandfather to Ryder, Owen, Brooklyn, Reese, Toryn, Addalyn, Mason, and Deacon, each of whom brought him great joy.
He will be deeply missed by his siblings: Deb (Joe) Van Haaren, Linda (Allan), Janet (Wray), Larry (Anne), Diane, Brian (Barb), Nancy (Mike), Anita (Mike), Grant, and Norma. He was predeceased by his brother William R. Hastie.
He is also survived by Beth Lehrbass, who was predeceased by Jack Lehrbass.
Alex will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. He shared a special bond with his hockey teammates, the friends he cherished at the Legion, and the colleagues who became lifelong companions through his years of work. These connections, built on loyalty, humour, and kindness, were a reflection of the way he lived his life. It is because of his quiet strength and unwavering love for those around him that he leaves behind such lasting memories and deep affection.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the East Lambton Community Centre on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend and share in remembering and celebrating Alex’s life.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
